Drink Wine Day

As a child of summer, I could never grow to love winter. For me, these few months are all about survival. Given the opportunity, I would sleep from October to March and resume my daily activities once spring arrives. In the winter I slow down, I feel less inclined to go out, I find it harder to do my daily tasks, and more challenging to concentrate for extended periods. Even though I pay attention to my diet, sleep, and daily exercise, things don’t go as smoothly during winter. As spring and summer roll around, like nature, I revive.
If you’ve experienced similar symptoms, don’t be surprised. Back in 2016, Belgian scientists at the University of Liège proved that the amount of natural daylight we get affects our concentration and memory. In the experiment, participants achieved better attention and memory test scores in the summer months, scoring highest around the summer solstice.
Interestingly, the study not only showed that we are more focused as the days lengthen, but that we have an internal clock that follows the seasons even when daylight is limited.
The 28 participants were deprived of sleep for two days and then had to spend the next three days in reduced light conditions. They then completed various memory and concentration tests. The experiment was carried out in all four seasons. Under laboratory conditions, scientists were able to control the amount of sleep, daylight, food intake, daily exercise, and social interactions for the participants.
Despite the same conditions, the highest results were obtained in summer and the lowest in winter.
If you too struggle to stay alert and focused during the day, I recommend trying Basic Lab’s BRAINPRO functional drink. You can feel the effects kick in within 20 minutes to help you stay fresh and focused. It contains only natural ingredients, no caffeine or sugar, therefore you can consume it in the evening as well, enjoying its positive effects for up to three hours.
